I’ve read many books on leadership. They mostly spell out the ideal qualities of a leader. It’s good to know that someone has preserved a picture of sanity. However, as a leader, I know that the daily reality is different.
In my journey, I’ve discovered that leaders are not superheroes with special powers. They are normal people with abnormal responsibilities. Take Barack Obama for instance. He’s not just the president of the U.S. He’s a husband, father, brother, friend, colleague, etc. Despite the demands of office, he still has to deal with life like everyone else. He’s a human being.
If people begin to see their leaders as people, I think there’s a chance of greater understanding, less criticism and more support. Their struggles are real.
Just like YOU…They have emotions. They eat food. They have sex. They sleep. They fart. They make mistakes. They catch a cold once in a while. And yes! They use the toilet.
