Some time ago someone invited me to a nice, new bar and promised a great experience. Sure enough, it was awesome and I was grateful for the treat. I had never been there and knew nothing about the place, but he did.
My friend first saw the new bar, experienced its pleasures and knew how to get me there. This explains how vision works. What you see about the future is vision. You’ve been there in your mind and you’re excited about getting others to the place that you see. That’s what leaders do. They take you into experiences that they know exist, even if no one ‘sees’ it.
Many books have been written about vision and it sometimes comes off like it’s a special gift; it’s not. It’s not for the chosen few. Everyone has a perspective.
A leader’s vision is what they see and understand about life which forms the basis for every decision made. And yes! It’s a big deal because it creates your life’s experiences and determines what you offer others. What do you see?
